Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White said although he was super proud of the Vodacom Bulls' efforts against the Emirates Lions in a Round 10 United Rugby Championship match, he admitted the injuries to Ruan Nortje and Elrigh Louw could be critical.
"It was an expensive game, a very expensive game," White said.
"I am proud of the team, with all the disruptions. There were so many things that were happening. Some teams would have given up."
"Not only did we get over the line, we ended up getting a bonus point as well, which says a lot about the character of this team."
"It was an expensive game, a very expensive game."
Not much was known about Louw's injury but it was confirmed that he had gone to hospital.
"I got a message from Elrich saying well done, which is amazing. When you get taken straight to the Millpark hospital, it is serious."
"Ruan Nortje will have a scan on Monday."
Vodacom Bulls captain Marcell Coetzee said at the post-match conference the experienced Bulls bench turned the game around against the Lions.
“It wasn’t by all means easy, you have to give credit to the Lions. They really stuck in there."
“They played a lot of our mistakes. It’s something we can rectify for the coming weeks."
“But it was an all-out derby, physically tough. We knew it would be an 80-minute performance and how important the bench was going to be. So luckily they brought that impact today."
“We knew the walls were going to break. You just have to keep hitting and hitting and when you get a Springboks like Willie, Akker and Canan coming off the bench, it makes it easier."
