According to unconfirmed rumours, Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is in talks to leave the Sharks to return to the DHL Stormers.
Apparently, his motivation for moving back to Cape Town is to be closer to his children, who relocated to Cape Town with Rachel his ex-wife to be.
The rumour suggests that Kolisi and the Stormers are already in talks. The Stormers’ new owners are apparently not eager to splash big amounts of money on superstars, but Kolisi is reportedly willing to take a pay cut of an unspecified amount, which would put him in a similar bracket with the rest of the men from the Cape’s leading Boks in a bid to clinch the deal.
Kolisi made his debut in 2012 in Cape Town. Thereafter, he moved to the Sharks for three years during 2021 and 2023. He then signed a three-year deal at Racing 92, joining the French club following the Rugby World Cup.
Kolisi’s move to Racing lasted just one season before he headed back to Durban with the Sharks on a one-year contract in 2024.
