Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus hinted that he will use the Wales test on Saturday at 19:40 (SA Time) to give more exposure to the fringe players on tour.
Erasmus used the end-of-year tour to strike a delicate balance between winning and developing depth. Wilco Louw was the 50th player Erasmus used throughout 2024 when he was selected for the England test.
Rassie Erasmus has attempted to give every single player involved in his various squads over the season game time, showcasing the incredible depth of South African rugby at the moment.
Flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse, loose forward Cameron Hanekom, lock Jean Kleyn and hooker Johan Grobbelaar are the players not used yet in the Castle Outgoing Series.
History could be made when Erasmus pair the brothers Jaden and Jordan Hendrikse for the first time at Test level as the halfbacks.
Forward coach Deon Davids said Cameron Hanekom and Johan Grobbelaar are quality players and will use their opportunities when selected.
"Robbies obviously have been with us for a longer time than Cameron and Robbies has really played test rugby and I think he's had good performances in that."
"Unfortunately he's playing behind guys that have a lot of experience in Malcolm and Bongi, but I think if he gets the chance to play at this level he will use his opportunity."
"They are both good team players and I think also their basics are good."
"Iit's not the first time that I've worked with Cameron, but I think he's a genuine athlete, he's a good learner and he really shows potential to cover any position in the forwards."
"I think at this level it's good to have this ability, a player that showcases that ability and we're really looking forward to whenever he gets a chance to see him play in the Green and Gold."
