The Varsity Cup competition for 2022 will be played as close to normal as allowed by the Covid19 regulations at that stage. The competition will start on 14 February 2022 with the final scheduled for 25 April 2022.
The Young Guns competition will also be played although it will be played during the same period as the planned SARU u/20 Cup which is said to be scheduled to start during the first week of February.
It was also confirmed that the two teams at the bottom of the log of the Varsity Cup competition calculated for the 2021 and 2022 seasons will be automatically relegated to the Varsity Shield competition for 2023. UJ and the Madibaz ended in the last two positions on the log in 2021.
Spectators will be allowed subject to the restrictions at the time.
