Schools: Paarl Boishaai Reshuffles Rugby Department Ahead of New Season

5 October 2026

Paarl Boys' High School has locked in two major coaching signings for the upcoming rugby season. The school is injecting elite professional and international pedigree directly into its rugby structures to spearhead the new campaign.

The leadership reshuffle successfully resolves two critical vacancies that recently opened up in the school's rugby program. The structural reset follows former head coach Sean Erasmus’s high-profile move to Maties, combined with Neil de Bruin’s departure to the Blue Bulls in December 2025. Paarl Boys' High has consolidated its management team well ahead of the pre-season rush.

George Earle officially takes the reins as the new First XV Head Coach. Earle is a familiar face within the system, having been an integral part of the Paarl Boys' High family since 2022. After joining the first team's coaching setup in 2025, he brings a wealth of professional playing experience and a World Rugby Level 3 qualification to the top job.

Veteran tactician Swys de Bruin anchors the department as the new Head of Coaching. De Bruin, who served as the head coach of the Springbok Women until August 2026, brings decades of sharp international rugby intellect to the school. He steps into the role previously held by his son, Neil de Bruin, who vacated the position at the end of 2025.

The school confirmed its full backing for the incoming duo in an official statement: "The school welcomes both appointments and wishes Mr Earle and Mr De Bruin every success with this new chapter in their careers."
