In a massive moral stand, members of the Eastern Province U16 Grant Khomo coaching staff have threatened to collectively step down following formal allegations of political interference and squad manipulation. They refuse to coach the team unless the unauthorised changes are reversed and a proper justification is given.
Highly-rated schoolboy players from all age groups, who won the backing of independent selectors, were allegedly omitted from the final lists. They were replaced by players who failed to secure selector backing or did not even play in the final trial matches.
The Chairman of the Eastern Province High Schools Rugby Association (EPHSRA) sent an official complaint to the President of the EP Rugby Union. The letter flags unauthorised alterations made to the U16 Grant Khomo squad after official trials.
