DHL Stormers Beat Edinburgh Rugby In Brutal War At DHL Stadium

The DHL Stormers came alive in the second half and scored four tries to secure a bonus-point 33-14 win against Edinburgh Rugby.

The DHL Stormers “dominated” the early statistics, but it took twenty-five minutes for points to be scored when a great offload by Ruhan Nel set Evan Roos away to crash over to put the Stormers into a 07-00 lead following the conversion by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu.

The DHL Stormers launched wave after wave of attacks on Edinburgh’s tryline until James Lang intercepted and ran ninety-five meters to level the scores 07-07, which was the final score.

A massive fight with the Stormers dominating statistics, but they could not convert their dominance into a lead on the scoreboard, mainly due to several errors made by the hosts.

The Stormers threatened several times, and eventually Leolin Zas crossed in the corner, following Zas’ quick throw-in at a lineout, to extend the Stormers lead to 12-07 after nine minutes of play in the second half.

Edinburgh made a good start to the second half, launching wave after wave of attacks until Boan Venter crashed over the Stormers tryline. Ross Thompson converted to edge Edinburgh 14-12 into the lead after twenty minutes of play in the second half.

The Stormers attack off a dominant scrum, and Ntuthuko Mchunu stormed past several Edinburgh defenders to score the Stormers’ third try. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu converted to edge the Stormers 19-14 into the lead with seventeen minutes to play.

The Stormers upped the pace of their attack, and following several minutes of launching wave after wave of attacks, Evan Roos stormed through a gap to score his second, and the Stormers' bonus-point try of the match, extending the Stormers lead to 26-14 following Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s conversion.

Deon Fourie attacked off a dominant scrum and scored the Stormers' fifth try, to secure a bonus-point 33-14 win over Edinburgh. The Stormers consolidated their second place in the URC log.
