
The Blitzboks had to work hard to secure a 19-12 win over Australia. The Blitzboks will face the winner between Spain and Fiji in the HSBC SVNS Vancouver tournament final at 02:34 (SA Time), Monday morning.
The Blitzboks started like a house on fire, and following great interplay, Ronald Brown sliced Australia’s defence in two to score an easy converted try after just two minutes of play in the first half.
Australia upped the intensity of their attacks, and eventually Aden Ekanayake scored to level the score on 07-07 with a minute still to play in the first half.
With time up on the clock, Australia launched wave after wave of attacks and scored two minutes after time was up to go into the second half leading 12-07.
Following two minutes of play in the second half, the Blitzboks were rewarded with a brilliant try by the powerful David Brits. Tristan Leyds converted to edge the Blitzboks 14-12 into the lead.
The Blitzboks secured a turnover in their half and scored their third try with brilliant interplay, with Selvyn Davids scoring the match-winning try. The Blitzboks won 19-12.
