PJ Botha is expected to be in the Lions’ starting lineup at hooker when they face the Hollywoodbets Sharks in Durban on Saturday at 15:30 (SA Time).
Botha, a crucial figure for the Lions, is a regular starter and former captain, having played a pivotal role throughout the season, including scoring a try in the Lions’ previous URC victory over the Sharks in March 2025.
Ahead of the clash, Botha emphasised the Lions’ intent to not only compete but dominate at Hollywoodbets Park.
“We had a couple of things to work on after the Stormers game,” said Botha, referencing their recent narrow defeat in Cape Town. “We’ve spent the week going through those, but overall, we’re just looking forward to the match against the Sharks. We want to go there and not just compete, but dominate.”
Botha downplayed the idea that physicality alone would decide the contest, pointing instead to mindset and execution.
“I don’t believe we play matches or opponents without physicality anymore. Every match is physical, and the Sharks are no different. As a team, we feel we are in a great place, physically and mentally. We are ready for the challenge.”
