Jarrod Cairns stated that the Lions are heading to England to face the Newcastle Red Bulls at 19:30 (SA Time) on Saturday, "with a bit of fire in us" following their 18-26 defeat to Benetton.
“It was a tough result for us against Benetton. We came back, went to the drawing board, and identified what we need to fix. We’re going to come out this weekend with a bit of a punch, and we know what we need to do up there.”
Cairns emphasised that the trip to face the Newcastle Red Bulls is an important "opportunity to get back on the horse".
Cairns said the team has confronted their defeat against Benetton head-on and is ready to punch back against Newcastle, “We looked at each other in the change room, in the eyes, and we said that we’d never want to feel like that again. So we’re going over there with a bit of fire in us.”
He noted that the team expects "really cold" weather conditions in Newcastle, which presents an additional challenge.
“It’s the UK weather, it’s winter that side,” he said. “It’s going to be wet. It’s going to be a tough situation, but we’re going as a collective. We just want to get a good result there.”
