
The Springboks scored nine tries on their way to a 61-07 win over a trying Japan at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday evening. The Springboks led 26-00 at the halftime break with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu stealing the limelight, scoring fourteen points in the first fourty minutes.
Within the first four minutes, the Springboks captain, Siya Kolisi, scored the first try of the match as the Springboks clearly showed that they intend to dominate up front. Feinberg-Mngomezulu converted to edge the Springboks 07-00 into the lead.
A fumble by Japan off a up and under by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu was pounced on by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu to score the Springboks' second try. Feinberg-Mngomezulu converted to extend the Springboks’ lead to 14-00 after fourteen minutes of play in the first half.
Five minutes later, Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu floated past several Japanese defenders to score his second try of the test to extend the Springboks’ lead to 19-00.
With five minutes still to play, the Springboks were awarded a penalty try when Japan sacked a lineout-maul illegally, which extended the Springboks' lead to 26-00, which was the halftime score.
Six minutes since the start of the second half saw Wilco Louw bulldozing his way over the Japanese tryline following several players handling the ball on the way to the tryline. Feinberg-Mngomezulu added the extras to extend the Springboks’ lead to 33-00.
The Japanese never-say-die attitude led to Yoshitaka Yazaki scoring from a five-meter quick tap. Lee Seung-sin converted to reduce the Springboks’ lead to 33-07.
A disallowed try by Andre Esterhuizen was replied to almost immediately when Kurt-Lee Arendse controlled a bouncing ball off a Manie Libbok up-and-under and beat several defenders to score the Springboks’ sixth try. Libbok converted to extend the Springboks’ lead to 40-07 with twenty minutes still to play in the second half.
Thereafter, Andre Esterhuizen, Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Jesse Kriel added their names on the scoresheet to win 61-07.
