Hollywoodbets Sharks head coach John Plumtree said that it is hard to find any positives following their 29-19 win over the Scarlets on Saturday in Durban.
“I’m really pleased with the way the forwards are scrummaging. I’m happy with some of the forward play around our driving line-outs.”
“We looked like we were going to open them up a few times, but an offload didn’t stick, or the pass wasn’t quite there. We still look a little bit like a side that hasn’t fully gelled. We’re not totally collective at the moment, I think we have improved a lot in that area.”
“It’s sort of hard to look for too many positives. I know how much better we can play. We just don’t look like a side that is really clicking yet.”
“It’s been a little bit of a combination thing. We’ve had to use different No.10s this year, and we haven’t got Jordan back up to speed yet. Jordan, Siya Masuku, and Jean Smith all played No.10 this year, so we haven’t really gotten going in that space. The backs probably haven’t clicked yet.”
“When we get it all together, we will be good, but you are not going to see it for a while.”
“The Scarlets were really good at slowing it down. Bringing in guys like Sam Lousi and Jake Ball added a lot of power to their pack. They held our runners up well, and we just couldn’t get the fast ball we wanted.”
“One of our big focuses this week was to exit well. We knew we could score tries, but if you don’t get out of your half properly, you invite pressure straight back.”
