Most of the match was a disappointing stop-start period with both teams making unforced errors in their effort to gain dominance over the other team. However, the Toyota Cheetahs came alive during the final fifteen minutes to score three tries and secure a 24-05 win.
Following twenty-five minutes of play in the first half, Prince Nkabinde pounced on a knock on by Black Lion to run thirty meters and score next to the uprights. Makhaza Ntokozo converted the try to claim a 07-00 lead for the Toyota Cheetahs.
Following sixteen minutes of play in the second half, and Black Lions enjoying a bit of an edge, replacement hooker Shalva Mamukashvili scored off the back of a lineout-maul to cut the Cheetahs' lead to 07-05.
The Cheetahs attacked off a turnover ball with Michael Annies receiving the final pass, and ran forty meters beating several defenders to score the Cheetahs' second try, extending the lead of the Cheetahs to 12-05 and fourteen minutes still to play in the second half.
Minutes later, Marko Janse van Rensburg scored off the back of a five-meter lineout-maul to extend the Cheetahs' lead to 17-05.
With time almost up, Prince Nkabinde showed some magic and scored the Cheetahs' fourth try. Blommetjies converted to extend the Cheethas' lead to 24-05.
