Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White says the team will borrow from last weekend’s victory against French Top 14 outfit Aviron Bayonnais as they look to further their stay in the competition, with a quarter-final win over Edinburgh Rugby.
"Last week’s result was massive. To get an away win in France is a big deal, especially because Bayonne are a strong outfit that sits fourth in their league."
"That winning feeling is something you cannot bottle, but it has given us confidence, and the vibe in the camp is upbeat."
"We have a nice environment, and it gives us a nice feeling as a group."
"I am really happy we got that win, and we must now take that momentum into this week."
White will come face to face with Edinburgh Rugby boss, Sean Everitt, who previously worked under White at both the Sharks and Bulls, as well as facing each other as rivals.
"I’ve been around too long to worry about other coaches and head-to-head. It’s not going to be about what coaches do, it’s about how teams play."
"I know Sean, and he knows me, and that means absolutely nothing for tomorrow’s game in Edinburgh."
White included the exciting Cameron Hanekom in his starting line-up at number eight. White said he believes that Hanekom could have a major impact on the result of this quarter-final.
"It’s a quick pitch, it’s 4G, it’ll suit him like a glove. I mean, he’s an out-and-out athlete."
"I think people sometimes forget that he’s 21 years old, and playing at this level against the international players every week takes a real bashing on your body."
"The way he plays, it’s an obvious thing that he’s going to get banged, bruised and pick up all these little bumps as his body gets stronger, tougher and used to the collisions."
"He’s fresh because he hasn’t played much rugby. He came off the bench against Aviron Bayonnais; he then got an HIA and was off for 12 minutes."
