Unfortunately, the results just validated that the gap between the top schools and the other is increasing at a rapid rate. The why's and "hoekoms" is a discussion for another day.
Paarl Gimansium 102-00 KES
Paarl Gim were "lucky" to play against a good KES team that tested Gim's defence and attack. This allowed Gim to play their gameplan and, despite leading 38-00 at the halftime break and eventually won
Paarl Boishaai 66-00 Waterkloof
Unfortunately, Paarl Boishaai was in a class of their own and scored almost at will against Waterkloof, however, credit must be given to a game Waterkloof that tried until the final whistle despite being outclassed.
Affies 61-17 Drostdy HTS
As expected, Affies mauled Drostdy HTS, winning. Drostdy made too many mistakes while Affies combined their big forwards brilliantly with their backs scoring almost at will.
Monnas 30-21 Durbanville
Monnas opened the scoring, unfortunately, the rest of the first half was dominated by Durbanville, and if Monnas had not scored late in the first half, the score would have been a fair reflection of the action on the field. Durbanville led 24-14 at the halftime break. The second half was a much better match, with Monnas clawing their way back into the game and trailing 27-21 with seven minutes to play. Durbanville converted a late penalty and deservedly won 30-21.
EG Jansen 10-71 Boland Landbou
Unfortunately, it was a complete mismatch, with Boland Landbo running riot against an EG Jansen that must prepare them for worse for the rest of the 2025 season. Such a pity for Boland Landbou who can not take anything away from this.
Outenqiua 26-34 Menlopark
Menlo ran Outeniqua to pieces in the first half of the match and led 22-00 at the halftime break. Menlopark played a brilliant 15-man rugby gameplan. Outeniqua came back in the second half and "won" the second 26-12 with Menlopark suffering a vital injury which resulted a lapse of their defensive systems. Although Menlopark's effort in the second half was not up to scratch in the second half, Outeniqua lifted their game in the second half and was the better team at the end of the match.
SACS 31-12 Welkom Gim
SACS dominated the initial opening quarter with their bigger forwards, however, Welkom Gim clawed their way back and eventually spent the last quarter in the SACS 25m. Unfortunately, the defence of SACS and the "handling" of Welkom Gim prevent Welkom Gim from converting their "dominance" into points. SACS scored a late try to secure a match, which could have gone the way of Welkom Gym.
Parel Valley 57-19 Mzwandile Mali XV
Taking into account the brilliant story of Mzwandile Mali XV, one can unfortunately not, apart from their story, add anything positive to their effort on the field. Parel Vallei was in a different class and dominated most of the match. however, the points difference should "worry" the coaches of Paarl Vallei.
