The New Nations Construction Pumas hosted the Vodacom Bulls this evening. The young Bulls side taking the points on offer and end as winners with 48-31.
Some will say Rasta's was responsible for the Bulls victory, however, the ill-discipline by the home team gave the Bulls the opportunity to keep the scoreboard ticking.
A young Bulls team that will have to "harden-up" a lot but showed more than enough promise to ensure a bright future for the Bulls.
01:21 Hooker Jou van Zyl scored the Bulls first try after a 5m line-out drive. (00-07)good Chris Smit
04:25 Francois Kleynhans scored the first tries in the same manner as the Bulls' first try to level the score. (07-07)
08:32 Stravino Jacobs goes over in the corner after great handling by the Bulls. He scored the Bulls second try of the evening (07-14)
12:31 Brandon Valentyn scored the Pumas second try. (14-14)
20:00 The Pumas were after the first 20 minutes the better team on the pitch. An even game with both sides creating space for their outside back with their handling.
24:07 The Bulls retook the lead after another line-out driving maul by the Bulls. Joe van Zyl was the man who appeared with the ball in his hands. (14-19)
29:21 Niel Marais convert a penalty to narrow the gap to two points. (17-19)
36:20 Gerhards Steenekamp go over for the Bulls fourth try of the first half. The Pumas defence kept the Bulls out for an extended time but the Pumas' defence had to leak a try sooner than later. (17-24)
40:10 Chris Smit convert his first penalty to extend the Bulls lead to 10 points. (17-27)
40:00 The Bulls losing everything on the field against the more physical Pumas side. However, the ill-discipline by the Pumas offered easy points to the Bulls frequently.
47:32 Morne Smit scored the Bulls 5th try. (17-34)
53:34 Marnus Potgieter over for the Bulls. (17-41)
60:00 The game loosening up a bit with no structure. Scrappy but "exciting" if you are a Bulls supporter.
70:07 Penalty try after Bulls scrum break up after Pumas pressure on the Bulls try-line. (24-41)
76:28 Dewald Maritz score for the Pumas from a 5metre lineo-out maul. (31-41)
