The Sigma Lions were desperate to break their losing streak in the competition against a confident Windhoek Draught Griquas in Johannesburg and their supporters started the celebrations after a great try by Boldwin Hansen which handed them the lead for the first time in the match and only eight minutes left. Unfortunately for the faithful, the Griquas scored their second try to score yet another win against the Lions
The Lions slowly started to take control of the match on the back of a powerful pack of forwards in the first quarter, however, several try-scoring opportunities at this stage were wasted by the Lions. The Griquas started to dominate in the second quarter after the long-distance try by Xamlashe. The fightback from the Lions in the second half but once again failed to close the game out against Griquas with seconds left to go
