Ruggas.co.za will travel the country for the next few weeks and visit sometimes interesting people and sometimes we will ask some uncomfortable questions.
Our first stop was Hoërskool Garsfontein in Pretoria. They were in the news the past few weeks as Ryno vd Merwe, Director of Rugby, resigned to take up the post at Affies as Head of Rugby. Garsfontein did not waste any time in appointing Hendre Marnitz as their new Director of Rugby. Hendre was already part of the system at Garsfontein and assisted at the 1stXV during the 2019 season.
Hendre stressed that he will not be making drastic changes but will be involved at all ages with the development of the B and C teams a priority.
Gustav Theunissen, Head of Marketing, answered our questions regarding Garsfonein's continuous struggles to remain a top 10 school. Which was clear from our conversation was that Garsfontein will remain a top 10 school and that they will do what is required to achieve that.
A big thanks to Garsfontein for their hospitality as well as honesty. (For the full interview click on link below)
