An exciting weekend of rugby in the 2022 Carling Currie Cup made the selection of a team of the week extremely difficult.
The open and fast rugby played by most of the teams have overshadowed the efforts of the workhorses and this week's team is was more about the "bling" than the "Grunt"
There were several outstanding performances at the wing and players like Daniel Kasende, Malcolm Jaer, Munier Harzenberg, Yaw Penxe as well as Marnus Potgieter could have made this team.
Two "flyhalves" playing at the inside centre was the outstanding players on Saturday, with Eddie Fouche just losing out to Zander du Plessis.
At flyhalf, the Bulls' Chris Smith had a brilliant performance and controlled the second half with the foot.
Ruan Pienaar is like red wine, and quality good red wine, and showed the value of experience in difficult playing conditions.
The selection of a loosie combination is once again much of the same with personal preferences playing a big role.
Understandably the Sharks tight five dominate the selection with Bismarck du Plessis's performance at hooker the highlight of the Bulls' effort.
Team of the Week: 15. Kurt-Lee Arendse (Bulls), 14. Sebastian de Klerk (Pumas), 13. Stedman Gans (Bulls), 12. Zander du Plessis (Griquas), 11. Canan Moodie (Bulls), 10. Chris Smith (Bulls), 9.
