The Junior Springboks completed a clean sweep, beating Uruguay, Georgia and Argentina (twice) to finish the Series – played at Markötter Stadium in Stellenbosch and Newlands in Cape Town over the last two weeks – undefeated.
The Junior Boks dominated the standings with their four wins. They only conceded three tries, while Argentina (10), Uruguay (15) and Georgia (22) all suffered from the attacking prowess of the South Africans, who scored 18 tries in their four matches.
The Junior Springboks played their first game against the Uruguay u/20 team. The Junior Springboks made several replacements at halftime which resulted in a much better second half to win 29-10. The Junior Springboks had a lot of homework to do before their match against Argentina.
The Junior Springboks played the Los Pumitas in their second match in Stellenboch in wet and rainy conditions. The brilliant defensive effort from the Junior Springboks saved the day for them securing a 33-26 win.
The Junior Springboks faced Georgia in their 3rd match in extreme wet conditions, at the Markötter Stadium in Stellenbosch. The Junior Springboks ended the initial stage of this tournament unbeaten after a good 42-00 win over Georgia.
The Junior Springboks played against Argentina in the U20 International Series final at Newlands. The Junior Springboks ended unbeaten in the u20 International Series after an impressive win by the Junior Springboks (27-09) on the back of an impressive scrumming effort. Mistakes by both sides voided several promising attacking opportunities, but all in all an impressive tournament by the Junior Springboks.
