It has been confirmed that Welsh captain Alun Wyn Jones and flanker Ross Moriarty will not participate further in the Autumn Nations Series and was subsequently released from the Welsh squad preparing for the upcoming test against the Springboks on Saturday.
Jones and Moriarty underwent scans on Monday due to shoulder injuries sustained on Saturday against New Zealand. Both players will require surgery with an estimated recovery period of a number of months respectively.
Bath Rugby’s Taulupe Faletau has also been released from the Wales squad after an ankle injury, sustained whilst training at Bath, will preclude him from taking part in the Autumn Nations Series.
Centre Uilisi Halaholo will re-join the squad on Friday, having spent 10 days in isolation after testing positive for Covid while Shane Lewis-Hughes, who made his debut against Scotland in October 2020, and Rhys Davies have been called into the squad.
The uncapped lock Rhys Davies, 22 is yet to make his senior debut for Wales.
