The Vodacom Bulls u/20s claimed an emphatic 26-77 win over their Lions u/20 counterparts when the two sides met at Emirates Airline Park in an SA Rugby u/20 Cup clash on Friday afternoon.
The side from Pretoria had been targeting a good performance in this match, against a Lions U20 side that had shown good form in the competition, only being defeated once in the build-up to the Friday clash.
The Vodacom Bulls u/20s started the match off well as they went on to score five tries in the first half, with the home team responding with two of their own to take the score to 14-35 in favour of the Tshwane-based side at the halfway mark.
The visitors were not yet done as they accelerated their efforts in the second half, amassing a further six converted tries for a total tally of 11, while the Lions' u/20 finished the match with four tries of their own.
Fullback, Franco Knoetze, proved to be fully accurate with the boot on the day as he managed to convert all 11 tries of the Vodacom Bulls U20 side.
It was a special day for Vodacom Bulls U20’s hooker, Tiaan Lange, who scored a total of four tries, while inside centre and vice-captain, Sonwabo Sokoyi crossed over the try line three times.
Other tries came via the efforts of scrumhalf, Neil le Roux, winger Quewin Nortje, outside centre Gert Steyn and replacement No9 Tiaan Fourie.
The victory catapulted the Vodacom Bulls U20 side from third on the log to first place.
The side will next face the Toyota Free State U20 side at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, April 2.
