Vodacom Bulls loose forward Marcell Coetzee said they are looking to bounce back from recent defeats but expect a brutal battle in Durban on Saturday at 18:00 (SA Time).
"It is a big derby and the guys are looking forward to it. The Sharks is a team full of Springboks so that adds to the motivation."
"At the end of the day, you want to measure yourself against the best. And the crop that they have, it’s a great opportunity to measure yourself with."
Coetzee said despite the battle amongst the loose forwards being important, there are many areas where the game could be won or lost this weekend.
"The Saints exposed us at the ruck, worked well defensively, and isolated runners from their support. We will have to be sharper in the contest and in contact."
"Siya Kolisi loves to impose himself at the breakdown, and we know Eben Etzebeth will want to make his mark physically as well."
"If we can get the upper hand in that department, it would definitely make things a bit easier."
"There are of course many other factors against players with World Cup and Rugby Championship experience. It will take a lot more than just that aspect of the game. You’re going to need a strong set-piece and being able to handle the kicking game."
"We need to empty the tank this weekend. It’s our last game of the year and it’s a great opportunity to bounce back from last week against a great Sharks team in Durban."
"The margins in the URC are so small. Whether you are in eighth place or first, we really need to step up. If you want to be successful in this competition you need to win the derbies."
"We’ll be prepared, the big thing that we should know is that it won’t be an easy match."
"It will really be a team effort to be able to beat the Sharks and if we tick certain boxes on the day it will make things easier."
