At a post-match press conference following the loss to the Hollywoodbet Sharks, their third dismal performance Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby, Jake White was visibly upset with the result.
The Bulls were once again their own worst enemies. Following losses to Saracens, and Northampton Saints as well as the loss on Saturday to the Sharks made White suggest it is time for some serious introspection.
"It is three weeks in a row now where we’ve had situations where we can put the opponents away. We basically dominated every single part of the game and never won it. It’s frustrating, for the third week in a row, we shot ourselves in the foot."
"That is what I am going to use the next two weeks for, we need to do a recap and a reboot."
"Saracens is a good team and will be there at the back-end of the European competition and Northampton were semifinalists last year and Premiership champions."
"I don’t want to look at just the negatives. I want to look at where we are, what we can do and how we can grow."
"I don’t think the players are not trying, and I don’t think the players are necessarily bad. I just feel that we look like we’re swimming against a current all the time. I’m not sure whether I’m getting from them what I thought I’d get out of them this season."
"When it’s on, we look fantastic but then there’s little things. We kick when we should run, we run when we should kick, we get a penalty advantage and we give the ball back."
"We are not losing because they have become bad players. They are managing certain things differently from how I would like them to manage it"
"I have to find a way in which I could get them to manage the game and take options that I want them to take because I believe they are good enough to take those options."
"I’m never going to say it’s panic stations; we’re top of the SA Shield log and played five of our seven games away from home, so there’s a lot of upturn that’s going to come in the new year."
"But like anything, it’s like if you make the same mistakes, that’s the frustration. We didn’t get beaten tonight, we lost.”
