Since the publication of the DBE's government Gazette that announced the start of all sports activities, the schools were active in organising schoolboy rugby fixtures for August and September 2021.
It was decided by the organisers that the Virseker competition is cancelled but they encouraged the participating schools to organise fixtures between themselves. Interesting is that it was also said that if schools decide to exclude their Grade 12 players, they can combine the u/16 and u/17 age groups in preparation for the 2020 season.
It was "confirmed" that the Paarl Interschools is not going to happen as the two schools could not agree on which age groups should be included. I have been contacted by Paarl Gim and according to them the two schools will discuss the interschools of 2021 during a meeting this coming Tuesday.
The Blue Bulls is considering sending an u/18 and/or u/17 age group provincial side to the "Inland Academy Week" in Piet Retief that will be played during the October schoolboy holidays. The Bulls is also looking at organising matches for their u/13 provincial teams.
We discuss the latest news with some thoughts on what is happening at this stage.
SACS already announced their fixtures for the rest of the season:
21/08/2021 SACS vs Rondebosch
28/08/2021 SACS vs Bishops
04/09/2021 SACS vs Wynberg
11/09/2021 SACS vs Rondebosch
18/09/2021 SACS vs Wynberg
Affies will play Jeppe, KES and Pretoria Boys High with details to be released soon.
Let the action begin.
