With just over a week until the Heineken Champions Cup returns, we look at some of the individual statistics for the opening two rounds and today it’s the turn of the leading defenders.
Turnovers – Vincent Tshituka (5)
Cell C Sharks flanker Tshituka is the turnover king after two rounds – but only just, with six players hot on his heels, one behind.
They are DHL Stormers hooker Deon Fourie, Racing 92 centre Gaël Fickou, Sale Sharks prop Bevan Rodd, Harlequins flanker Will Evans, Gloucester Rugby back-row forward Albert Tuisue and Ulster Rugby hooker Tom Stewart.
Tackles – Clément Doumenc (34)
Gavin Coombes’ Round 2-high tally of 25 tackles in Munster Rugby’s gritty 17-6 win at Northampton Saints wasn’t enough to topple Montpellier Hérault Rugby back-row forward Clément Doumenc from the head of the table.
The Munster No.8 lies four shy of Doumenc on 30 in joint second place with Northampton lock David Ribbans, who also impressed in Round 2 with 17 tackles.
