URC – Vodacom Bulls Cruise To A Nine-Try Win Over The Ospreys

The Vodacom Bulls restored their pride at home, beating the Ospreys comprehensively by 61-24, earning five points and a temporythird place on the URC table.

The first half was an even match with the Canan Moody try two minutes from the halftime break giving the Vodacom Bulls a 24-10 lead. However, two tries by the Vodacom Bulls within the first four minutes of the half gave the hosts a 40-10 lead, whereafter the Ospreys desperately tried to catch up, which they could not.

The Vodacom Bulls scored the first points of the match after seven minutes of play in the first half when Johan Grobbelaar scored from the back of a five-meter lineout-maul.

The Vodacom Bulls' second try was a team try which started in their own half and following great handling and interplay David Kriel strolled over the Ospreys tryline to extend the Vodacom Bulls lead to 14-00 with eighteen minutes still to play in the first half.

A kick from Embrose Papier was charged down and eventually led to the try by Luke Davies. However, the Vodacom Bulls struck back almost immediately when a long skip pass by Embrose Papier placed Kurt Lee Arendse in open space to score in the corner.

Jack Walsh converted a penalty for the Ospreys with six minutes to go in the first half. This was followed by the bonus point try by Canan Moodie following an intercept by David Kriel in the Vodacom Bulls half. The Vodacom Bull led 26-10 going into the second half.

Moodie scored his second try after just one minute of play in the second half, this time, controlling a grubber to score in the corner. Emrose Papier scored the Vodacom Bull's sixth try when David Kriel burst through the defence of the visitors and sent Embrose Papier on his way to extend the Vodacom Bulls lead to 40-10 after just four minutes of play in the second half.

The madness continued when Keiran Williams scored the Ospreys' second try of the match after just two minutes after the try by Papier.

This was followed by tries by Kurt Lee Arendse and a penalty try before the Ospreys' Keelan Giles scored in the corner to reduce the Vodacom Bulls' lead to 54-24 and twelve minutes to play in the second half.

With four minutes to go an intercept trie by Willie le Rouxl sealed a 61-24 bonus point win for the Vodacom Bulls.
