URC Team Of Round 8 – Four South Africans Made The Cut

 

Round 8 of the BKT United Rugby Championship delivered some outstanding individual performances. Here, we take a look at the best players by position from the weekend’s matches, with each side afforded a maximum of four representatives in the final XV.

15. Josh McKay (Glasgow Warriors) - McKay shone in the victory over Edinburgh as he led the Warriors with 93 metres gained, 10 successful carries, four defenders beaten, two clean breaks and three offloads.

14. Canan Moodie (Vodacom Bulls) - Scored a try in a losing effort against the DHL Stormers but led his team with 63 metres gained and two clean breaks.

13. Tommaso Menoncello (Benetton) - Went over for a try as Benetton continued their domination of the Italian derby against Zebre Parma. His 79 metres gained led Benetton as did his four successful carries and two clean breaks.

12. Ben Thomas - Scored one of Cardiff's nine tries in the big win over Dragons.

11. Kurt-Lee Arendse (Vodacom Bulls) - Went over for a try against DHL Stormers as the Bulls came up short in Cape Town.

10. Jacob Umaga (Benetton) - Converted all four of Benetton's tries against Zebre Parma and added a penalty.

9. Tomos Williams (Cardiff) - Went in for two of Cardiff's tries against Dragons at the Arms Park.

8. Hacjivah Dayimani (DHL Stormers) - Was pivotal for the Stormers on both sides of the ball as he led the team with five defenders beaten and two turnovers won.

7. Shamus Hurley-Langton (Connacht) - Scored a try and won a turnover as Connacht were beaten by the narrowest of margins at Ulster.

6. Harri Keddie (Dragons) - Went in for two of the Dragons' three tries in the heavy defeat at Cardiff.

5. Ruben van Heerden (DHL Stormers) - Led the Stormers with an impressive 23 tackles in the win over the Vodacom Bulls.

4. Kieran Treadwell (Ulster) - Played a key role in the battle up front and his three defenders beaten was the best for Ulster.

3. Keiron Assiratti (Cardiff) - Went in for a try as Cardiff dominated the Dragons.

2. Johnny Matthews (Glasgow Warriors) - Showed why he is the dominant hooker in the URC as he appears for the fourth time this season with a late try against Edinburgh.

1. Rhys Carre (Cardiff) - Making a third appearance in the team of the week after playing a big role up front as Cardiff beat Dragons.
