URC – “Simply Not Good Enough” – John Plumtree

Hollywoodbets Sharks John Plumtree didn’t mince his words after the Sharks’ heavy 10-38 defeat to Benetton in Treviso on Saturday bringing their three-week tour to Europe to a frustrating end.

“We weren’t good enough tonight, we had too many unforced errors at crucial times, particularly in their 22m area when we had opportunities to build pressure.”

“Particularly in the second half we had territory and possession and we just weren’t clinical enough, it’s something we’re going to have to really look at, we were nowhere near ruthless enough.”

Defensive lapses by the Hollywoodbets Sharks allowed Benetton to score five unanswered tries before Ntuthuko Mchunu scored a late consolation try.

“I don’t think there was any lack of trying, I think we were working hard, but it was just individuals and some defensive lapses and just not a clinical enough performance.”

“I thought Benetton's defence was outstanding, they scrambled well, they got off the line and put pressure on us and we didn’t handle that well."

"We are just all looking forward to getting home and looking forward to having a home game.”
