The Emirates Lions absorbed the initial pressure by the Hollywoodbets Sharks, however, the rest of the match was controlled the rest of the match scoring a dominant 40-10 win.
The Hollywoodbets Sharks started like a house on fire with Siya Masuko opening the scoring with a converted penalty after just three minutes of play. However, the individual brilliance of Sanele Nohamba secured a brilliant try for the hosts minutes later. Nohamba cut the defence of the visitors twice on his way to his try.
The Emirates Lions continued their assault on the Hollywoodbets Sharks tryline and JC Pretorius caught a perfectly weighted kick-pass from Sanele Nohamba who strolled over to extend the Emirates Lions' lead to 14-03 after just 12 minutes of play in the first half. Quan Horn added the Emirates Lions' 3rd try 8 minutes later.
A brilliant individual effort by Hollywoodbets Sharks winger Eduard Keyter reduced the Emirates Lions lead to 19-10 after 26 minutes of pay. During the final quarter, the Hollywoodbets Sharks got their hands on more quality ball and with minutes to go in the first half Aphelele Fassie's "try" was disallowed.
The start of the second half was delayed by 20 minutes due to a severe thunderstorm. The wet conditions made it difficult for the players and despite setting up camp in the Hollywoodbets Sharks 22m it took the Emirates Lions 24 minutes before prop Conraad van Vuuren bulldozed his way over for the Emirates Lions' bonus-point try.
With ten minutes to go, Erich Cronje controlled a chip kick by Morne van den Berg and scored the Emirates Lions 5th try, extending their lead to 33-10. Six minutes later Hanru Sirgel also crossed the tryline for the hosts who won 40-10 with relative ease.
