URC – “It Is Tough Switching From Centre To Wing To Full-back” – Canan Moodie

Vodacom Bulls winger/centre Canan Moodie said although he was willing to play wherever he is needed by the Bulls it was tough to switch from centre to wing to fullback.

"It's very tough but I've tried to quiet down the external things and focused more on what I need to do on the field and I think that's what's helped me do the extra things that I need to do, to make sure I'm prepared for on a Saturday."

"Although it is tough switching from centre to wing and then full-back, fortunately in the week preceding the match you know where you will play and can start to prepare accordingly. So whether I'm playing wing or centre I can always prepare to make sure I work on what I have to do in the week, making sure that I'm prepared for a Saturday.

Discussing his seemingly "easy" transfer from wing to centre, Moodie said he played at the centre at Boland Landbou and it is a position he knows and loves to play.

"I got a taste of playing at centre at the World Cup and in a few games with the Springboks, so I'm fairly comfortable playing at centre. When playing centre for the Bulls I just need to be the best I can and know where I can contribute. I am just grateful for the opportunities to play."

Moodie said he worked hard on his defence since his days at Boland Landbou as at centre dedicated defence is a must.

"It's something I work hard on and pride myself in. A big part of my game is being good at defence. At school, I wasn't the biggest kid. I was a small, scrawny little centre and the bigger guys always came at me. I had to toughen up and just make my hits."
