Wilhelm van der Sluys and Tiaan Swanepoel have both extended their contracts with the Lions and will remain in Johannesburg for the next year.
Wilhelm van der Sluys has quietly been plying his trade with the Lions and has become Mr Dependable when coming off the bench in most of their Vodacom Super Rugby matches this season while he was a regular during their highly successful 2019 campaign when they reached the final.
"I am really grateful to still be part of the Lions family, especially in these unprecedented times. Looking forward to the journey ahead,” Van der Sluys said.
Tiaan Swanepoel, a fullback with a big boot, made his debut for the Emirates Lions against the Jaguares early in the season but then a hamstring injury kept his side-lined. He is back to his old form and will be working hard with the team as he gradually returns to training in the coming weeks.
Swanepoel: "The Lions give players the opportunity to live their passion and show their talent. I am thankful to remain a Lion as I am very happy here."
