Monument Hoërskool experienced one of their best years in the TUKS Series when all four A teams qualified for the finals in their respective age groups. In the under age groups, they met stern opposition and did not manage one win with Menlopark clearly showing that their efforts to become a top rugby school is already showing early results.
U14A - Menlopark 28-20 Monnas
U15A - Monnas 14-35 Transvalia
U16A - Monnas 20-28 Menlopark
1stXV - Monnas 50 - 13 EG Jansen
EG Jansen started the match much as we expected them to play in the face of the big Monnas boys and trying to unsettle them. This worked for Boland Landbou during the Wildeklawer Festival but the boys from Krugersdorp were determined to win this one. Only leading 15-8 five minutes before the end of the first half the backline from Monnas started to turn the afterburners on and scored two tries before half-time stretching the lead to 29-8. Monnas was in complete control of all facets of the game and physically bullied the EG Jansen players.
One person who needs mentioning and I am sure actively worked for this attention was the referee. This guy thought there was a price for the referee that issued the most cards during a game. I believe that being strict during dangerous play by players the referee must act but holy crap this guy really went overboard killing a potential spectacle.
