The Toyota Cheetahs announced the signing of one of South Africa's most exciting young backline talents, Ntokozo Makahaza. The 23-year-old wing will join the side ahead of the 2025 Currie Cup season.
Makahaza, who was recently named both the 2025 Varsity Cup Player of the Year and Backline Player of the Year, played a pivotal role in the Ikey Tigers' emphatic 44–21 victory over Maties in the Varsity Cup final — on Maties' home turf, no less. He contributed a remarkable 32 points in the final, bringing his season tally to 155.
It marks the second consecutive year that Makahaza was Varsity Cup Player of the Year and his third consecutive Vasity Cup final.
Being born in Bethlehem in the Free State, Ntokozo Makahaza's move to the Toyota Cheetahs is something of a homecoming, and the Toyota Cheetahs look forward to welcoming Ntokozo to Bloemfontein.
