The NovaVit Griffons hosted the Toyota Cheetahs on Sunday in Welkom losing 52-14 after the Cheetahs already led 40-06 at the halftime break.
Unfortunately for the host, their best would never be good enough to bother the visiting Toyota Cheetehas who score six tries in the opening 40 minutes. The second half was unfortunately a bit of a bore as the Toyota Cheetahs did what was needed while the NovaVit Griffons were better but still not good enough.
The first ten minutes were an even physical battle, however, the Toyota Cheetahs started to dominate as Marko Janse van Rensburg scored after a 5m lineout-maul broke up and he bulldozed his way over the hosts' tryline.
A converted penalty by Jaywinn Juries reduced the Toyota Cheetahs' lead to 07-03. However, the Toyota Cheetahs' pack replied immediately from the kickoff as Friedle Olivier bulldozed his way over for the Toyota Cheetahs' second try.
Ill discipline by the hosts is instrumental in the dominance of the Toyota Cheetahs. Ruhan Pienaar took a quick tap from a 5m penalty with Munier Hartzenberg receiving the final pass to score the visitors' third try after just 20 minutes of play to lead 19-00.
Despite a Jaywinn Juries converted penalty the Toyota Cheetahs continued to physically attack the defence of the NovaVit Griffons, opening up gaps for their fast running backs. Munier Hartzenberg scored the Toyota Cheetahs' 4th and bonus point try in the corner to lead 26-06 after just 29 minutes of play in the first half.
It continued to rain tries from the Toyota Cheetahs with tries by captain Victor Sekekete and a third by Munier Hartzenberg before the end of the first half.
The Toyota Cheetahs cruised into the second half leading 40-06 on the back of ill discipline and unforced errors by their hosts.
Two penalties by NoviVit Griffons' Jaywinn Juries opened the scoring in the second half before the heavens opened up again. First, it was Munier Hartzenburg to score his 4th of the day followed by Cohen Jasper's try twenty-odd minutes later.
The second half was unfortunately a bit of a bore as the Toyota Cheetahs did what was needed while the NovaVit Griffons' was just not good enough.
