The Emirates Lions will host Ospreys in their final EPCR Challenge Cup league match on Sunday at 15:00 (SA Time) with a play-off in the Round of 16 spot already secured.
Scrumhalve Nico Steyn had a lot of praise for his teammates' character, especially in defence.
“One massive positive we can take out of this game was our defensive effort.”
“I think every single guy on the field just scoped their man and made the punches. They kept coming at us, and we didn’t stand back. I think we can take that forward as a team."
“That shows the character we have in the team, the character we showed to just keep on fighting although the scoreboard was not on our side,” he said.
“Every player stood their ground and made their tackles. Montpellier kept coming at us, but we didn’t take a step backwards."
Steyn said that their downfall was discipline, and is something they need to fix.
“Yes, we made a lot of errors, we spoke about discipline, and discipline was one of the major things that cost us the game. That’s on us, we can fix that, it’s in our hands, it’s controllable,” Steyn said.
"We made a lot of errors and discipline cost us, but we will take heart from that.”
