“There’s Been A Lot Of Growth In Specific Areas” – Ivan van Rooyen

Emirates Lions head coach Ivan van Rooyen praised his team's mental growth during a post-match media opportunity following their 35-13 bonus point win against Newcastle Falcons in a Round 2 EPCR Challenge Cup match.

“There’s been a lot of growth in specific areas. I think mentally has been the biggest growth for us in terms of togetherness, cohesiveness, mindset, approach, and better execution of plans.:

“There’s a lot to be excited about. Yes, there’s still errors and work-ons but a year-and-a-half ago we felt hope and potential, and currently, through the hard work of the players, we’re starting to feel that at least nice forward momentum is happening.”

“I think we have grown a lot (this season) and our time of learning has been fast. It is just about executing our plan and that’s where it was a little bit disappointing for me," captain Marius Louw said.

“But looking forward it will obviously be a good thing for us to keep on winning. That’s the main objective for us, and hopefully, we can get a home quarterfinal in the EPCR Challenge Cup. That would be awesome for us.”
