The Weekend That Was 18 June 2017

With a weekend with no action in the Western Cape and the Central Union and with very little going on elsewhere, our update will include all the regions.

In the Eastern Cape Dale College did what was expected of them against Cambridge, winning with ease 47-7. Hudson Park overcame an initial onslaught from Grens winning 26-12 and St Andrew's continued their impressive season against opponents in the Eastern Cape demolishing a game but struggling Kingswood 72-5 in their K Day celebrations.

St Charles ensured that Clifton's season did not end with a victory beating their hosts with relative ease with 22-5. In what maybe a lot of people will claim an upset Kearsney manage to beat their guest Maritzburg College 32-7. Although Maritzburg College kept on fighting until the end the margin of victory and the relative ease thereof surprised many. Hilton College ended their 1st season after major initiatives to improve their rugby with a good win 41-12 against Michaelhouse. Hilton with this win entering the top 20 at #18.

In the Noordvaal a lot of semi-finals of the respective leagues was played. Alberton failed to repeat their win against Dinamika and list 0-5 after an intense battle. Trinity House won against Bekker in a game that struggled to flow with the backline of Trinity House supplying the fireworks.  Trinity House lead 31-12 at halftime with a hard fought but dull 2nd half winning 43-19 at the end. Fochville and Bekker entertained the spectators with a fast flowing game and although Bekker lead 33-13 at halftime, Fochville never gave up eventually losing 20-40. Frans du Toit won against Warmbad 25-17 with Wilgers continuing to dominate the Medium School's league in Pretoria beating Gerrit Maritz 55-15

The massacre at Monnas was widely covered with the game stopped 10 minutes before full-time Monnas winning 89-3 against Florida. In the battle of the Saints, St Stithians won a hard fought battle 40-34 against St Benedicts. St Benedicts ending a season from hell only winning 2 of their 14 fixtures this season.

A weekend with not a lot of games.
