The Week That Was Ending 26 March 2017 – Noordvaal

In the Noorvaal Region, the action is fast and furious. The Tuks Series semi-finalist was decided with a few surprises. EG Jansen had no problems in beating a game Kempton Park but paid a big price in losing their star flyhalf Ruben Beytell for three weeks with only 10 minutes left in the game. In the other game in Nelspruit, the home team have beaten Eldoraigne 26-25. This match will be remembered for the monster kick that Nelspruit's flyhalf Stephan van der Bank succeeded with to win the match after the final hooter went. Monnas struggled to beat Middelburg HTS and was behind with 0-9 at the end of the first half. A second-half penalty tries awarded to Monnas secured the victory with 14-12. Garsfontein won the last quarter-final with relative ease with their outside centre Diego Appollis scoring two tries. Monnas will face Garsfontein and Eg Jansen will face Nelspruit in the semi-finals to be played at LC de Villiers stadium, Tuks on the 22nd of April 2017.

In the NWU Pukke Prestige series, several teams can still proceed to the playoff matches. Marais Viljoen however already qualified with their victory of 52-0 against Jeugland. Marais Viljoen who played in The Tuks Series last year is the favourite at this stage to win this competition.

The NWU Inter-Provincial Series ben Vorster showed its dominance beating Frikkie Meyer 44-6 and Oos Moot avoiding the wooden spoon beating Wonderboom 68-26. The NWU Sports series saw Alberton continuing their impressive form beating Hoogenhout 19-9.

Pretoria Boys hosting Kes lost 0-31 but the schools result already showing improvement with the rugby staff being led by the capable Rudi Dames working hard to restore the Pretoria Boys High Of Old.
