The fight for the 1stXV Noordvaal Cup intensifies this weekend with six schools still able to qualify for the semi-finals which is scheduled for the weekend of 19 August 2023. However, it was agreed that schools affected by the SA u/18 participating in the u/18 International Festival may move the semi-finals to latest Tuesday 22 August 2023. The finals are scheduled for 26 August 2023.
Currently, the unbeaten EG Jansen are top of the log closely followed by Helpmekaar, Garsfontein, Noordheuwel and Monnas. Garsfontein, Noordheuwel and Monnas has only played four matches while Waterkloof has played six.
Menlopark vs Nelspruit
Menlopark and Nelspruit's 1st XV are not in the running to qualify for the playoffs. However, the fight to evade relegation will be on all supporters' minds. Nelspruit's u/14A team must be the favourite while Menlopark's u/15s and u/16s should collect the important log points while the 1stXV's both are still looking for their first win of the season.
Monnas vs Marais Viljoen
Monnas will dominate the day
Noordheuwel vs Waterkloof
Waterkloof is currently fourth on the NoordVaal 1stXV log, leading Noordheuwel with 4 points, however, Noordheuwel has played one match less. Waterkloof and Noordheuwel have beaten Nelspruit and Menloparl
Helpmekaar vs Garsfontein, however, the win of Waterkloof against a very strong Helpmekaar just before the July school holiday must make them the favourites.
Helpmekaar vs Garsfontein
Garsfontein is still unbeaten in the NoordVaal Cup competition and has shown no weaknesses during the 2023 season and will see themselves as the favourites aggainst Helpmekaar. Helpmekaar on the otherhand, has not had a brilliant season and their loss against Waterkloof just before the July holidays was not expected. However, expect a massive onslaught by Helpmekaar at home.
