The Cheetahs managed to secure a 31-21 win against the Griquas in second warmup game against the Griquas. The Cheetahs won the first warmup game with 40-7.
The Griquas started the match with two early tries to lead 14-0 after only 10 minutes of play. The Cheetahs missed the six players who are in Cape Town for the Springbok Showdown while the Griquas was content to play constructive rugby and only let the ball go wide when warranted. The Cheetahs had to wait 30 minutes before they could score their first points of the match. Two tries in quick succession levelled the score at 14-14, which was also the score at the end of the first half.
The Cheetahs started the second half with a lot more determination and took the lead with 21-14 after only seven minutes of play. Zak Burger's try levelled the score yet again, the play on the field reflected on the scoreboard 100%. It was only during the last ten minutes that the Cheetahs managed to build a decent enough lead to close out the game. The final score of 31-21 was a fair reflection of the game with the Cheetahs who were made to work hard for their win.
