When selecting a team for the week one is faced with several challenging questions. Do one take the opposition into account? Do the player fit in your "game plan"? And and and.
The most disappointing position must be fullback where none of the players starting was standing out from the others. Wandisile Simelane's one or two moments of brilliance are more than enough to secure his selection.
Out wide Quan Horn has once again shown that he is willing to take the knocks and hand out some knocks too. His two tries guaranteed his selection. Edwill van der Merwe did not have the opportunities Horn had, however, the commitment shown on defence was brilliant.
Henco van Wyk is definately a talent for the future, however again the lack of standout players made his selection easy, while Damian Willemse must be the backline player of the weekend.
Curwin Boscch is a "new" player since returning from injury, however, his defence and worth on the attack are still questionable. His halfback partner may surprise many as Sanele Nohamba and Jaden Hendrikse showed why they are Springboks, however, Pienaar's willingness to be a link between the back and front combined with the calmness he brings made him our pensioner's choice for the week.
The loosies in South Africa must be the best in the World and personal choice will always play a big role in the selection. However, the name of the 19-year-old Ruan Venter must be listed under unlucky not to be in the final line-up.
The selection of Eben Etzebeth is a formality, however, his lock partner is once again selecting the best of the not-so-wonderful.
The front row select themselves with the selection of Thomas du Toit ahead of Frans Malherbe maybe a bit foolish, but hey?
