Maritzburg College 13-22 Nelspruit
Nelspruit "dominated" from the kick-off but could only add points to the scoreboard after nineteen minutes of play in the first half. Nelspruit took a quick tap and lock, and Andre Smit bulldozed his way over Maritzburg's tryline. Four minutes later, Maritzburg took a quick tap five meters from Nelspruit's tryline, and inside centre Olwethu Kosani crashed over to level the scores. With time up on the clock, Nelspruit set up camp in Maritzburg's red zone until scrummie Liam Pringle sniped to score Nelspruit's second try. Nelspruit led 12-07 at the halftime break.
Nelspruit attacked from the kick-off, however, it was Maritzburg that opened the scoring in the second half with two converted penalties to lead 13-12 with fifteen minutes to play. Nelspruit hooker Lindani Ndlela scored Nelspruit first try in the second half, before sealing the 22-13 win with a converted penalty with eight minutes to play.
Hilton 33-16 Kingswood
Kinswood opened the scoring when big winger James McKenie ran over and past several defenders of Hilton to score in the corner. Two minutes later, Hilton scored their first try when Andre Boshoff scored after brilliant interplay and handling by Hilton forwards and backs. Hilton converted a penalty to lead 10-07 after fifteen minutes of play, to which Kingswood replied with two converted penalties to take the lead 13-10. Hilton converted a penalty with time up on the clock to level the scores 13-13.
A drop goal by Hilton's fly-half gave them a 16-13 lead after just two minutes of play in the second half. Hilton added tries by Zander Vorster and Zander Muller to secure a 33-16 win.
Randburg 24-33 St John's
Randburg opened the scoring off a lineout maul when tighthead Kian Kritzinger rumbled over after eight minutes of play. Not to be outdone, St John's scored two tries within the next ten minutes of play to lead 12-05. St John's continued their dominance and added a try by Menzi Bongwe to lead 19-05 going into the second half.
Randburg scored a try thanks to winger Bradley Butcher after five minutes of play. An intercept try by Tumelo Bopape for St John's was followed by a try by Bradley Butcher, cutting St John's lead to 26-19 with twelve minutes still to play. A try by Jayden Oosthuizen with five minutes still to play was followed by a late try by Lwandile Khupe for St John's to secure a 33-24 win in a scrappy match.
Pretoria Boys High 10-25 Graeme College
The first twenty-two minutes of the match were scoreless until flanker Ayola Mali intercepted and sprinted seventy meters to score Graeme College's first try. Boys High struck back immediately when eigthman Queenton Mncube crashed over and scored with seconds still to play. Pretoria Boys High led 07-05 at the halftime break.
The schools traded converted penalties within the first ten minutes of the second half. Thereafter, Graeme College scored tries by Erin Nelson and Lucritia Magau to secure the 25-10 win.
Voortrekker Beth 08-21 SACS
Voortrekker Bethlehem took the lead with a conversion by their flyhalf after ten minutes of play. Five minutes later, SACS took a quick tap and fed their big forwards to do the hard work. Lock Harrison Bell crashed over next to the upright to secure a 07-03 lead for SACS. Twelve minutes later, a dominant SACS attacked from a lineout maul and were rewarded by a penalty. They took a quick tap, and eventually it was tighthead prop Qiraan Hermans who crashed over, extending SACS' lead to 14-03.
After ten minutes of play Voortrekker Bethlehem scored their second try when hooker Wessel Hattingh scored off the back of a lineout maul to cut SACS' lead to 14-08. SACS started to increase the pressure and scored their third try off the back of a lineout-maul with flanker Siphe Mbungendluvu crashing over, extending SACS' lead to 21-08, which was the final score.
Welkom Gim 33-50 Diamantveld
In a match where eighty-one points are scored in seventy minutes of play, the defence was not at its best. Diamantveld opened the scoring after just five minutes of play, to which Welkom Gim replied two minutes later. The rest of the first half was an arm wrestle, and Diamantveld scored a late try to go into the second half leading 17-11.
Welkom opened the scoring in the second half, scoring the first try after just 45 seconds of play. Diamantveld started to take control and lead 29-18 after fifteen minutes of play. The final fifteen minutes were played at a blistering pace, with both sides scoring great tries. However, Diamantveld's lead of eleven points after fifteen minutes of play in the second half was enough to secure a deserved 50-33 win over Welkom Gim.
