St John's 05-29 Hilton
Hilton dominated the opening stanza and deservedly fly-half and captain Liyema Nela scored the first try of the match. Nela cutting the defence of St John's for a 50-meter run to score. Hilton continued the pressure, and winger Ricky Adonis scored in the corner when St John's couldn't control a box kick. Hilton led 12-00 before Hilton converted a penalty to lead 15-00 at the halftime break.
Hilton continued to dominate and scored from a lineout overthrow by St John's with scrumhalf Zander Vorster dotting down, extending Hilton's lead to 22-00. St John's started to get their hands on quality attacking ball. Following a yellow card to Hilton, St John's scored when the scrumhalf put Gerald van Wyk in possession out wide to score St John's first points of the match after forty-two minutes of play. Hilton absorbed a lot of pressure until the captain Liyema Nela cut St John's defence in two with a brilliant break to feed winger Khazimla Makali to score in the corner, extending Hilton's lead to 29-05, which was the final score.
Pretoria Boys High 43-29 Diamantveld
Diamantveld let a box-kick bounce, and Pretoria Boys High controlled it and moved it to winger Neo Matlaletsa, who scored in the corner. Diamantveld dominated the next ten minutes, and following a penalty, they kicked the ball out five meters from PBHS' tryline. Prop Dian Ellis crashed over to level the scores at 05-05, which was also the halftime score.
Diamantveld let the kickoff bounce, and winger Neo Matlaletsa controlled the ball to score in the corner after just seven seconds in the second half. Diamantveld struck back four minutes later when Ruben van der Linde took a quick tap from a penalty and scored Diamantveld's second try to once again level the scores 10-10. Two minutes later, it was the turn of PBHS to score when Michael Fourie sniped and scored, whereafter, Neo Matlaletsa scored his third try of the match to extend PBHS's lead to 24-10 with twenty-two minutes still to play in the second half. Diamantveld's Zuan Rautenback struck back off the back of a lineout-maul to cut PBHS's lead to 24-17.
A clueless kick up the field into the hands of Blake Mager led to another try for PBHS, with Mager running 50 meters for his try, extending PBHS's lead to 31-17. A yellow card for cynical play led to a penalty try for Diamantveld; thereafter, PBHS's Pieter Lindeboom scored an easy try out wide, extending PBHS's lead to 38-24 with seven minutes to play. PBHS continued to apply pressure on the attack, and it was Rheece Holman who added his name to the scorecard. A try by Diamantveld with seconds to go ended the try madness, and PBHS deservedly won 43-29.
Nelspruit 34-31 Welkom Gim
It took Nelspruit just five minutes to score when they scored from a lineout when lock Werno Heyns broke down the front of a lineout. Seven minutes later, Nelspruit attacked from inside their half when flyhalf John Duncan cut the defence of Voortrekker in two, offloading to Jordan Pretorius who scored in the corner to extend Nelspruit's lead to 12-00. Welkom Gim clawed their way into the match and following a strong scrum, Welkom Gim attacked from just inside Nelspruit's half, spreading the ball wide and eventually Nathan Muller scored in the corner to cut Nelspruit's lead to 12-07. With three minutes to play in the first half, Leano Williams converted a penalty for Welkom, which cut Nelspuit's lead to just two points.
Welkom scored the first points of the second half when Rewaldo Farmer scored following a brilliant attack by Welkom Gim, which started in their half. Ten minutes later, Nelspruit attacked off a lineout and individual brilliance by eightman Vaughn van Zyl, running a brilliant line to beat several defenders on his way to the tryline. Nelspruit retook the lead 19-17 with fourteen minutes to play. Three minutes later, Welkom Gim replied when Nathan Muller sniped down a ruck for his second try. With the floodgates open, Reuben Greeff put Nelspruit 26-24 back in the lead with a try. With three minutes to play, Welkom intercepted, and Byron Klaasin ran fifty meters plus to give the lead back to Welkom Gim. With the time up on the clock, Tinyiko Silubane scored a try for Nelspruit following a quick tap to level the scores. With time up on the clock, Nelspuit converted a penalty to secure a 34-31 win.
St David's 03-28 SACS
After five minutes of play, SACS took a quick tap off a penalty and fed the big lock Cameron Hirst the ball, who crashed over for the first point of the match. After a period of ten minutes of scrappy play, the dominating SACS launched wave after wave of attack by their big forwards until Sipho Dyantyi crashed over for SACS' second try, extending their lead to 14-00 after fourteen minutes of play in the second half. St Davids attacked from the kickoff and opened their account with a converted penalty by Luca Cabion. SACS continued their dominance and scored their third try off a five-meter lineout-maul, when Siphe Mbungendlu crashed over, extending SACS' lead to 21-03, which was the halftime score.
Despite continuing their dominance, it took SACS almost the whole of the second half to score the fourth try when winger Langa Moyo scored a great try down the touchline to extend SACS' lead to 28-03, which was also the final score.
Voortrekker Beh 10-21 Graeme College
Graeme College attacked off an aimless kick to the back by Voortrekker to score their first five-pointer by Siya Mdubo, thanks to the blistering pace and interplay by the Graeme backline to open the scoring after just two minutes of play in the first half. Voortrekker Bethlehem dominated from kickoff, and a converted penalty by Nolen du Plooy cut Graeme's lead to 07-03 after thirteen minutes of play in the first half. With eight minutes to play, Erin Nelson scored a long-distance try for Graeme College, once again showcasing the blistering speed and interplay from their backs. Graeme led 14-03. Three minutes later, Inathi Planga added his name to the scoresheet, dancing past several Voortrekker defenders on his way to score Graeme's third try. Voortrekker, not to be outdone, scored off the back of a driving maul after the ball was spread wide for their eightman, Attila Ozturk, to crash over just before the halftime break. Graeme led 21-10 at the halftime break.
The second half was an arm wrestle, however, no points were scored, and Graeme, who dominated possession and territory in the second half, was the deserved winner with 21-10.
Kingswood 43-21 Randburg
Kingswood College used their big forward to open the scoring, bulldozing their way over the tryline to lead 07-00. Randburg replied immediately when they attacked from a poor upfield kick by Kingswood, spreading the ball wide to score in the corner to level the scores 07-07. Randburg scored their second try of the match after 24 minutes of play in the second half to lead 14-07. A missed conversion by Kingswood at the end of the first half saw Randburg continue their dominance on the field, leading 14-07 at the halftime break.
Kingswood used their big forwards to rumble off a quick tap, upfield, whereafter they spread the ball wide to score a long-distance try on the opposite corner, cutting Randburg's lead to 14-12. After twelve minutes of play, poor defence by Randburg and great running and interplay from Kingswood saw them striking through the midfield and retaking the lead 19-14 with a brilliant try. Randburg attacked from the restart, using the launch wave after wave of attacks until Curwin Hill bashed his way over to retake the lead with 21-19.
Kingswood attacked from the kickoff, exploiting a bad kick upfield by Randburg, attacking with their brilliant back down the touchline until number 22 James McKenzie scored in the corner for Kingswood to lead 26-21 and ten minutes still to play. From the kickoff, again, Kingswood attacked down the right-hand touchline and Kungwano Badli scored their next try, extending their lead to 31-21. Minutes later, Kingswood outside centre Likhone Kepe added his name to the scoresheet, Kingswood at this stage running Randburg off their feet. Thereafter, Kungwano Badli sealed a brilliant final ten minutes by Kingswood with another try to deservedly win 41-21.
