The Springbok Women's Sevens ended last at the 2022 HSBC Cape Town Sevens after losing their fifth game in a row against Japan 15-05.
The first half of this match was very even with the number of mistakes made by both teams keeping the point-scoring opportunities to the minimum. The Springboks Women's Sevens scored the first points of the match when Marlize de Bruin forced her way over a minute after the time was up to lead 05-00 going into the second half.
Japan started the second half like a house on fire and scored after just two minutes of play to level the score at 05-05. Japan added a further two tries after some halfhearted defence by the Springbok Women's Sevens.
