The Springboks Women Sevens was beaten by Ireland 24-00 in their second-round match at the HSBC Cape Town Sevens tournament after a spirited performance by the home team.
Ireland attacked from the first whistle of the match and was first to score after 3 minutes of the first half, despite some spirited defence by the Springbok Women. The remainder of the first half was even, however, Ireland scored their second try of the match after time was up on the clock to lead 10-00 at the halftime break.
Despite a spirited fightback from the Springboks Women, Ireland scored two tries in the second half to win 24-00.
