South Africa Women recorded a convincing and physical 36-19 win over a youthful Spain in a final Test before their WXV 2 campaign starts later this month. The Springbok Woman outscored their visitors by six tries to three.
Spain started like a house on fire and set up camp in the Springboks' red zone, launching wave after wave of attacks, however, the Sprinboks' defence kept Spain from scoring points after ten minutes of play.
After twenty minutes of play brilliant passing by Spain next to a ruck put Spain's flyhalf Amalia Argudo in a gap and strolled over for an easy try to lead 07-00.
The try by Spain set the action on fire and the Springboks attacked from the kick-off ending in powerhouse Aseza Hele bulldozing her way for the Springboks first try to level the scores after twenty-two minutes of play in the first half.
The following fifteen minutes of play produced great action with Lindelwa Gwala extending the Springboks' lead to 12-07 with a try from the back of a five-meter lineout maul.
Hooker Lindelwa Gwala scored her second try from the back of another five-meter lineout-maul. The Springboks starting to dominate the action on the field threatening to run their visitors' defence to pieces.
Two minutes later Libbie Janse Van Rensburg became the first to score more than 200 points when she cruised through a gap to score the Springboks' fourth try.
Spain added their second try by Martina MÁrquez, followed by two tries by the Springboks to extend the Springboks' lead to 36-12.
A "consolation" try by Spain's Zahía PÉrez with time almost up on the clock to reduce the Springboks lead to 36-19 which was also the final score.
