South Africans Dominate URC Team Of The Week


Round 6 of the BKT United Rugby Championship delivered some outstanding individual performances. Here, we take a look at the best players by position from the weekend’s matches, with each side afforded a maximum of four representatives in the final XV.

15. Aphelele Fassi (Hollywoodbets Sharks)
Fassi went over for two of the Sharks' 10 tries in the big win over Dragons and was an attacking threat throughout.

14. Rio Dyer (Dragons)
Excelled in a losing cause as he crossed for one of the Dragons' tries and led his team with successful carries, clean breaks, defenders beaten, metres gained and offloads.

13. Henco van Wyk (Emirates Lions)
Scored two tries as the Lions emphatically dispatched Zebre Parma.

12. Keiran Williams (Ospreys)
Another two-try hero from the weekend as he helped the Ospreys secure derby bragging rights with a victory over Scarlets.

11. Edwill van der Merwe (Emirates Lions)
Scored two of the Lions' tries against Zebre Parma and led his team with two offloads.

10. Jaco van der Walt (Vodacom Bulls) 
Converted five of the Bulls' seven tries against Connacht and added a penalty.

9. Grant Williams (Hollywoodbets Sharks) 
Climbed off the bench to help himself to a pair of tries as the Sharks won for the first time this season.

8. Nizaam Carr (Vodacom Bulls)
Turned in an all-round display against the Dragons as he ran in a try and led his team with eight successful carries and 19 tackles made.

7. Phepsi Buthelezi (Hollywoodbets Sharks)
Scored one of the Sharks' 10 tries and led the South Africans with 66 metres gained.

6. Emmanuel Tshituka (Emirates Lions) 
Scored a try and led the Lions with 10 successful carries and nine defenders beaten.

5. Ruan Nortje (Vodacom Bulls)
Scored a try and led the Bulls with one turnover and two clean breaks.

4. Eben Etzebeth (Hollywoodbets Sharks) 
Made an instant impact with a try after returning from World Cup duty with South Africa.

3. Zander Fagerson (Glasgow Warriors)
Played a pivotal role in the battle up front as Glasgow rallied from 14-0 down early on to beat Ulster and climb to the top of the table.

2. Johnny Matthews (Glasgow Warriors)
He made his third appearance of the season in the Fantasy Team of the Week as he climbed off the bench to score two tries in the win over Ulster and also led the Warriors with 60 metres gained.

1. Andrew Porter (Leinster)
In thick of the action up front on both sides of the ball as Leinster secured a hard-fought win over Munster.
