The Eastern Cape is providing their supporters with some tense games full of action and this weekend was no exception.

At Grey High School everything went the way of Paul Roos and they ended the first half with a lead of 10-5 which was mainly due to the sin-binning of Grey's hooker after a dangerous tackle. In the ten minutes in the bin, Paul Roos scored two unconverted tries. The second half saw Paul Roos taking control and was leading 20-15 with only two minutes to go. The replacement wing of Grey scored a try in the dying minutes of the game which was converted to give Grey High School a somewhat unexpected victory.

At Graeme College, St Andrew's had to work very hard in the first half to fend of the challenge of Graeme. Graeme College scored first to take an early lead but was trailing by 10-15 at halftime. In the second half, it was St Andrew's who launched attack after attack on the Graeme try line with sometimes only desperate defence from the Graeme boys which kept St Andrew's from scoring. Graeme's inability to maintain possession cost them several try-scoring opportunities and saw St Andrew's patience and clinical execution of their game plan winning 25-10.

Brandwag scored their 5th victory in a row against Daniël Pienaar in very wet conditions. Brandwag's success was due to their supremacy up front which gave quality ball to their backs. A total of eight tries was scored by Brandwag in this runaway victory, already leading 27-3 at half time. The second half saw much of the same with Brandwag winning an easy match with 55-10.

Selborne had to work extremely hard to win against a very willing Queen's College and missing their flyhalf a lot. With Queens losing five of their eight matches this year, not a lot was expected from them but they had Selborne working very hard for their victory of 14-12 and most believe Selborne had a lucky escape after they were 7 all at half time and a missed kick by Queens could have changed the outcome.

Despatch had a close victory of 24-23 against Pearson and Muir College won 38-26 against a willing Nico Malan.
