Scoreless Second Half Cost Toyota Cheetahs Against Cardiff Rugby

Cardiff Rugby kept the Toyota Cheetahs scoreless in the second half to secure a 26-10 win in their Round 2 EPCR Challenge Cup match.

Cardiff was the first to score after 17 minutes of play in the first half when Josh Adams scored following a counterattack by Cardiff which started in their own half.

The Toyota Cheetahs struggled to break down the defence of the host but did eventually score when Ruben de Haas scored their first try after thirty-two minutes of play. The conversion of Wentzel secured a 07-05 lead.

With five minutes to play in the first half Ethan Wentzel converted a penalty to extend the Cheetahs' lead to 10-05 which was the halftime score.

Cardiff scored a try each by Tom Bowen and Josh Adams to lead 19-10 with twenty minutes still to play in the second half.

A penalty try seven minutes later secured the bonus point for the host, extending their lead to 26-10, which was also the final score.

The game fizzled out to a stop-start affair as the clock was winding down and in the end the mistakes by the visitors prevented them from fighting back.
